1 killed, another injured in Glendale shooting

Evidence markers, tape and sirens are a scene all too familiar for this neighborhood in Glendale.

"I heard yelling and screaming and I mean viciously screaming and I did hear a gunshot," Veronica Woodring said. "It's kind of common in the neighborhood, we just check and make sure everybody is OK in the house and go back to bed."

Veronica Woodring has lived here for 31 years and says the crime is getting out of control.

"My husband said he heard several gunshots, very loud ones, seven, eight, nine shots that were loud followed by several rounds of smaller caliber gunshots," she said.

Glendale police say one person was found shot to death here in the neighborhood off of 67th Avenue and Palmaire at around 3 a.m. Saturday morning. Police later released the name of the man who was killed, 31-year-old Robert Granado.

Witnesses told police two vehicles left the scene. Police tracked these vehicles down and found one off of 57th Avenue and Grand and questioned those inside.

Police located another vehicle off of 83rd Avenue and Thomas and inside was a passenger who had been shot. Police are still working to see if the people inside the two vehicles are connected to the deadly shooting.

Neighbors say this type of violence is happening far too often.

"We don't walk through this neighborhood, it's not going to happen, not even with my dogs, it's not safe," a neighbor said.
