Apartment fire results in evacuation in Mesa

MESA, Ariz. (KSAZ) - It was a chaotic scene at a Mesa apartment complex Thursday night, as a fire broke out at the two-story building.

First responders were seen evacuating residents from their units, and people were seen running from their homes. Some were seen being carried out!

Reports say eight people got some smoke in their lungs, with five being taken to the hospital. The remaining three were treated at the scene.

Several of those patients, according to reports, were Mesa Police officers who had responded to the scene. Their conditions are unknown.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
