Dog dies in south Phoenix duplex fire

PHOENIX (FOX 10) - Firefighters say nine people have been displaced following a duplex fire in south Phoenix that left one dog dead.

According to the Phoenix Fire Department, the fire broke out early Tuesday morning at a duplex near Seventh Street and Illini.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a fire burning in an attic and was beginning to spread to another apartment.

Crews were able to stop the fire from spreading, however, nine people have been displaced due to the fire and a family dog was killed.

The Red Cross is assisting the victims with temporary housing.

No firefighters were injured.
