Eastbound I-10 reopens after body found on shoulder

A section of eastbound Interstate 10 near Eloy was closed for seven hours so that police could investigate the death of a woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle.

Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Bart Graves says the woman, identified as 22-year-old Marie Gills, was walking along the interstate when she was struck and killed by an unknown vehicle.

Gills' body was found on the interstate's shoulder late Sunday night.

The section of eastbound interstate affected was reopened Monday morning. The westbound lanes were not affected. During the closure, eastbound traffic was directed onto a Frontage Road for about eight miles.
