Fire burns trash, plants in downtown Phoenix

Firefighters responded to a trash fire that broke out in downtown Phoenix early Friday morning.

The Phoenix Fire Department says the fire broke out near 3rd Street and Virginia just after 5 a.m. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they discovered a fire was burning trash, plants and clothing in a nearby alley.

The fire also burned power poles and a crew from APS is at the scene to restore power to a nearby home.

There is no major damage as a result of the fire and the cause remains under investigation.
