Good Samaritan killed, man arrested after woman attacked in Arlington, police say

A man is under arrest after police say he killed a good Samaritan who tried to help a woman he was allegedly sexually assaulting Thursday night in Arlington.

Police say 27-year-old Michael Nash was walking with a woman he knew around 9:21 p.m. in the 1300 block of S. George Mason Drive when he began to attack her.

According to police, Nash and the victim knew one another.

Officers say a good Samaritan stepped in to try and help the woman but was attacked by Nash. The victim, identified as 54-year-old Patricio Salazar, was hospitalized and later died.

Investigators say Nash ran away and robbed a woman of her cell phone before police arrested him near Columbia Pike and George Mason Drive.

Nash faces charges of abduction with the intent to defile, forcible sodomy and animate object sexual penetration. Police say additional charges are forthcoming.

The investigation remains open. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (703) 228-4185.
