Loop 303 reopens after deadly crash near Cactus Road

The Loop 303 has reopened after a deadly motorcycle crash shut down the highway near Cactus Road late Tuesday night.

The northbound lanes of the highway were closed after the crash happened around 11:30 p.m.

We're told a biker was hit by a car.

Police say the driver of that car was speeding when he hit the motorcycle.

The biker was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.

"We don't have the specifics on the speed estimates at this time. The biker was most likely traveling at speed limit and we had calls of a vehicle matching that description going at a high rate of speed," said DPS Sgt. John Mouret.

Police say the driver of the car stayed on scene and has been cooperating with investigators.

They are looking into whether impairment may have been a factor.
