Man gravely injured while trimming palm tree in Phoenix

PHOENIX (AP) - A man trimming a tree in west Phoenix has been critically injured after getting hit with a palm canopy.

Firefighters were called Sunday morning to the area of 40th Avenue and Roosevelt Street after the man was incapacitated.

They say he was trimming a palm tree 50 feet above the ground when he was struck.

Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Jake Van Hook says firefighters were able to rescue him from the tree using a ladder truck.

But he was not breathing and did not have a pulse.

Van Hook says the man was taken to a hospital but did not know his immediate condition.
