March for Justice: Protests in Atlanta
ATLANTA - Thousands people gathered at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights Friday for a rally and march following the deadly police involved shootings in Louisiana and Minnesota.
The peaceful protest was scheduled before the Dallas shootings that left five officers dead and several others wounded.
There were several groups attending the rally including Black Lives Matter and the Georgia NAACP, spreading the message that race is still an issue in our country and that people need to come together for a better society.
Organizers said the march ended shortly before 8 p.m., but some marchers continued.
Earlier, a smaller protest made its way through Midtown Atlanta spreading a similar message. At one point Atlanta Police Officers followed the group to make sure they were safe.
At Hot 107.9, Reec Swiney changed his show's programming, opening the phone lines so listeners could talk about the recent tragic events.
