MCSO searches for body in connection to fatal kayaking accident at Canyon Lake

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Authorities are searching for a man's body in connection to a fatal kayaking accident at Canyon Lake.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says their dive team will continue to search for a body of Omar Linares in connection to a fatal kayaking accident on February 19.

MCSO says Omar's kayak capsized while he was out on the lake with two friends, and high winds and rough waters separated Omar from his friends during the accident.

A passing boat picked up Omar's two friends, who went back to where they last saw Omar, but they could not find him, so they left Omar's kayak to mark the area and returned to the boat ramp to call authorities.

MCSO responded to the scene to search for Omar, however, he was not found. Since the accident, the MCSO dive team has searched for Omar every day at Canyon Lake.
