New numbers: Sinema ahead by over 1% in U.S. Senate race

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -- New numbers made available by the Arizona Secretary of State's office shows Democratic candidate Kyrsten Sinema's lead has grown to over 1%.

As of 5:00 p.m. Monday, Sinema received 1,097,321 votes (49.68%), while Republican candidate Martha McSally received 1,059,124 votes (47.96%). This means Sinema is now ahead by 38,197 votes.

Sinema and McSally are battling for Jeff Flake's Senate seat. Flake is leaving the Senate at the end of the current legislative term.

According to Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes, there are 143,000 ballots that have yet to be processed in Maricopa County, as of Monday.
