PCSO: Woman dressed as nun, husband arrested for trafficking $90,000 worth of fentanyl

PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. (FOX 10) - The Pinal County Sheriff's office arrested a woman dressed as a nun and her husband for trafficking $90,000 worth of fentanyl.

Officials say a PCSO K-9 Deputy conducting traffic enforcement on Interstate 10 pulled a vehicle over. Inside were Jose Aguilar Diaz and his wife Esther Gomez De Aguilar, who was dressed as a nun with a Bible on her lap.

The deputy noticed suspicious circumstances and searched the vehicle. Four bundles of suspected fentanyl pills were found in Esther's purse as well as two more bundles of suspected fentanyl powder hidden under her clothes.

"You can see they will use any means to try to conceal what they are doing," said Sheriff Mark Lamb. "Fentanyl is extremely dangerous. All it takes is the equivalent of 4-5 grains the size of sand to kill you. This is another win for the K-9 deputies and we thank them for their efforts in keeping our community and Arizona safe."

PCSO says a total of 8.5 pounds of fentanyl were seized. The couple was arrested and booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center for possession of narcotics for sale and transportation of narcotics for sale.
