PD: Man arrested for threatening and intimidating Phoenix mosque

PHOENIX (FOX 10) - Phoenix Police say a man has been arrested after he threatened and intimidated a Phoenix mosque.

Officers responded to the United Islamic Center of Arizona Saturday night for a person who was acting suspiciously.

Noel Thomas Becht had entered the facility saying he was curious about the Muslim religion. He was told to sit in on a prayer service.

Police say Becht began wandering around and entering areas he wasn't permitted. He asked unusual questions regarding service times at the mosque as well as another in Tempe. When questioned by leaders, police were told he put a finger to his neck and made a sawing motion.

Officers arrested Becht and charged him with threatening and intimidating, disorderly conduct and trespassing.

Phoenix Police want to remind everyone to contact the police if you observe suspicious behavior.
