PD: Man stabbed, killed near Phoenix bus stop

A man was stabbed near a Phoenix bus stop on Saturday night and police say he died at the hospital.

What we know:

The stabbing happened near 15th Avenue and Jefferson Street around 7 p.m. on Feb. 8, Phoenix Police Sgt. Brian Bower said.

He was rushed to the hospital where he died. He's identified as Walter MacDonald, 43.

Sgt. Bower says a suspect was detained, but only identified him as a man. He was released.

"Officers contacted a man at the scene who acknowledged his involvement with the stabbing. Detectives responded to the scene and after speaking with witness’ and being provided statements from the man, he was released pending further investigation," police said.
