Police: Suspect dead, no officers injured in north Phoenix shooting
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Police say a suspect is dead and no officers were injured following an officer-involved shooting in North Phoenix early Wednesday morning.
Phoenix police say officers were near 35th Avenue and Deer Valley Road trying to identify a suspect wanted for a felony warrant when they spotted a man on a bike matching the description of the suspect.
When officers tried to stop the man, he fled the scene on his bike and officers followed in pursuit.
The 35-year-old suspect, identified as Andrew Collins, then fired a handgun at the officers, who returned fire, killing Collins.
No officers were injured during the shooting.
The intersection of 35th Avenue and Deer Valley Road has reopened.
