The California Highway Patrol is involved in a vehicle pursuit that began with Cal State Long Beach police attempting to pull over a driver in a silver Ford Fusion for not having the headlights on.

The driver did not stop and eventually got onto the northbound 405 Freeway where CHP took over the pursuit traveling through West Los Angeles, Sherman Oaks, and Van Nuys, to name a few, before getting on the northbound 5 Freeway through the Santa Clarita area.

At one point, a CHP officer got close to the suspect vehicle which then sped up eventually driving through a construction zone on the northbound 5 Freeway near Hasley Canyon Road in Valencia.

Despite a successful spike strip deployment, the suspect continued driving north past Castaic at slower speeds.

It's unknown how many people are inside the suspect car or why the driver refused to pull over is fleeing from law enforcement.

No further details were immediately known.
