QT gas station shut down during Mesa police investigation

MESA, Ariz. - Crime scene tape surrounded a QuikTrip gas station near Val Vista and Main Street on Friday morning while police investigated the scene.

Police say a woman was attacked by a man with a knife. Someone called 9-1-1 and the victim was able to provide officers with a description of the suspect, who had fled the scene.

The suspect was later tracked down by a Mesa Police Department helicopter crew. The suspect told officers he was on drugs and did not know the victim, who remains hospitalized in serious condition.

The suspect's name was not released.
