Renee Good's family remembers her on her 38th birthday: 'We love and miss you'

Published April 2, 2026 10:58 AM MST

Renee Good, who was fatally shot by ICE in Minneapolis in January, would have been 38 years old on Thursday, with her family saying they are grateful for the time they had with her, and they miss her.

Good's family statement

What they're saying:

Good's parents, Tim and Donna Ganger, and her siblings shared the following statement on Thursday:

"Thirty-eight years ago today Renee blessed our lives with love, beauty and light. Renee, full of promise, was taken from us much too soon on 1/7/26, a day which has changed our family forever. We are grateful for the 37 years we had her and her warmth. Today and everyday we remember what we have lost but remain so thankful for what she gave to all of us. We love and miss you so much, Nae."

What we know:

Good was fatally shot by an ICE agent on Jan. 7, 2026, in the area of East 34th Street and Portland Avenue. Good was 37 years old.

In the months since she was killed, she has been remembered for showing up for her community as a volunteer, teacher, mom and friend. She was funny, warm and always chose kindness, her wife said previously.
