Valley company hopes to repeat last year's success in holiday toy drive

There are toys stacked high around a chair that will soon the the throne for Santa himself. In 2016, air conditioning company Affordable Comfort looked a lot different. After waiting in line, kids sat on Santa's lap and then got a free toy.

It was an inaugural toy drive and giveaway that all started unexpectedly with one of the company's owners and an auction.

"We ended up with a semi ful of toys and we were actually outside just waving to passersby that we were giving away toys over here," Carl Weaver said.

Carl and co-owner Jesse decided to make this about giving back.

"Whenever I was a kid, we didn't necessarily have the most money growing up," Jesse Butler said.

Last year, after we told their story, more people showed up, not only getting gifts, but also giving them.

Affordable Comfort handed out about 800 free toys and had 300 left over. So this year, they're hoping to do it all over again this Saturday.

"I, at one time, was one of the kids standing in line myself, so to give back a little bit is awesome," Butler said.

The giveaway will take place at Affordable Comfort on December 23rd between 8:00 a.m. and Noon. Anyone can attend as long as they have their children with them. If you want to donate a gift for the drive, you can drop it off at 2727 West Sweetwater and receive a free service call or winter preventive maintenance check.
