Westbound I-10 in Ahwatukee reopened following semi truck fire

Interstate 10 westbound is back open at Loop 202 (Santan Freeway), according to ADOT officials, following a truck fire.

The fire happened near I-10 and Ray Road Tuesday afternoon. While I-10 eastbound was not affected, I-10 westbound, from Loop 202 northbound, was shut down.

"Crews from Chandler, Phoenix, Tempe, and Gilbert assisted with this incident. There were four vehicles involved with one of them being a semi. The cab of the semi and one vehicle were fully involved with fire when fire crews arrived on scene. All occupants were able to escape the flames but two patients had burns to arms and hands. Both burn patients were transported to Burn unit at MIHS. The driver of semi and three others were treated on scene and refused transportation to hospital. DPS on scene investigating," stated Chandler police officials.
