According to a story posted to foxnews.com, Kilmar Abrego Garcia was previously pulled over by a highway patrol officer while driving a car belonging to a confessed human smuggler. Abrego Garcia was deported last month following 2019 accusations by Maryland police that he was an MS-13 gang member. More than 130 employees were recognized during the Phoenix Police Department's annual awards ceremony. Among the honorees were fallen Office Zane Coolidge, who was awarded the department's highest recognition. Officer Coolidge died after being shot in the line of duty. His partner, Officer Matthew Haney, received the police shield, as well as the medals of valor and life saving.

Investigators say Vander Tuig was wanted in connection to a March 2023 fraud case in California. Tuig was found at a Scottsdale shopping center and arrested. Police say he had a previous fraud conviction for embezzling $50 million from investors.
