Extreme monsoon weather brought intense lightning activity, leaving a palm tree bursting into flames. Arizona power providers reported record-breaking peak energy demand on July 24. The record surge in electricity usage came as temperatures reached a blistering 117 degrees with overnight lows only dipping to 97 degrees. The Hondo Rodeo Fest is returning to Chase Field for its third year from Nov. 13 through Nov. 15. The three-day event will showcase top rodeo athletes competing for a $1 million purse.
