1 killed in hit-and-run crash near Phoenix intersection

One person is dead following a hit-and-run crash early Tuesday morning near a Phoenix intersection. 

The crash happened at around 2:45 a.m. on Jan. 21 near 48th Street and Broadway Road.

What we know:

Phoenix Police say a pickup truck hit a pedestrian before fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries where he later died. He was identified as 38-year-old Andrew Worley.

Broadway Road has reopened in both directions between 44th and 48th Streets.

What we don't know:

Police did not release any information about a possible description of the suspect's vehicle.

What they're saying:

Investigators believe Worley was crossing the street mid-block when he was hit.

"The vehicle involved did not remain on scene and left the area prior to police arrival," police said.
