2 construction workers injured after girder collapses in Surprise

SURPRISE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say two people were injured when a girder fell onto construction equipment at a road construction site.

The Surprise Fire Department says one person fell 40 feet and was taken to a trauma center by helicopter. The second person's injuries are described as minor.

The incident occurred Thursday morning at a location near Bell Road and Grand Avenue where dozens of girders are being erected for elevated roadway.

ADOT says it's unclear if the accident will cause any delays for their original timeline.
