9-year-old boy dies after being struck by truck

MESA, Ariz. (KSAZ) - A boy has died after being struck by a car in Mesa on Thursday night.

Mesa police say the 9-year-old boy was struck by the car while riding on his skateboard near Dobson and Rio Salado at about 8:30 p.m. The boy was wearing dark clothes and darted into traffic when he was hit by a work truck.

The boy was rushed to a hospital where he later died.

Police say the driver of the truck stopped at the scene and did not appear to be impaired.
