Accused gunman in Mesa shooting rampage pleads guilty
PHOENIX (AP) -- A Maricopa County judge has ordered an ex-con to appear in court this summer for sentencing after he pleaded guilty to killing one person and wounding five others in a 2015 Mesa rampage.
Ryan Elliott Giroux pleaded guilty on Friday to all 23 charges including first degree murder, aggravated assault and other charges stemming from a March 2015 shooting spree.
Defense attorney Stephanie Low said Giroux wanted to take responsibility for his actions. She said she had never in her career seen someone be so honest about their crimes.
Judge Margaret Mahoney scheduled the hearing for June 10 at 1:30 p.m. in Phoenix.
