ADOT: Road closures, lane restrictions to affect Valley drivers

If you take Interstate 10 westbound near 59th Avenue, you may have noticed things are getting a little tricky to navigate.

Closures have allowed crews to set beams for the future westbound I-10 connection to the southbound Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway.

Starting today, drivers heading westbound on I-10 at 59th Avenue should prepare for late and overnight closures through the remainder of the month. Crews are still developing structures for the flyover bridge.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is recommending folks traveling toward the west Valley to alter their routes to avoid closures and lane restrictions, as well as plan for extra time to get to your destination.

Westbound I-10 will be closed at 59th Avenue from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the next week, with lane reductions and brief irregular closures continuing throughout July.

During the closures, westbound I-10 traffic will detour along the off and on ramps at 59th Avenue.
