Ballot count continues: Prop 205, County Recorder are tight races

The Maricopa County Recorder's Office says 112,000 early ballots still need to be counted as of Sunday afternoon.

Proposition 205, which would legalize marijuana in the state of Arizona, is behind by 31,000 votes. Currently there are more than 680,600 votes against the measure, while more than 650,300 voters approved the measure.

There are also 55,000 provisional ballots that will need to be researched and examined before they can be officially counted.

The Associated Press is reporting that in their unofficial count, most Arizona counties have collected more "yes" votes than "no" votes, with the exception of Pima and Maricopa counties.

In a second tight race, Republican Maricopa County Recorder Helen Purcell is behind Democratic challenger Adrian Fontes by about 12,000 votes.

The Recorder's office says the count will continue until all ballots have been tabulated.
