Boy shot in head after he and friend were 'messing around' with gun

GLENDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Police say a 13-year-old boy is in extremely critical condition after being shot in the head while he and a friend were "messing around with a handgun."

According to the Glendale Police Department, the boy and his friend were playing with a gun at an apartment near 67th Avenue and Bethany Home Road when the gun fired, striking the boy in the head.

Police say the boy was taken to a hospital where he is in extremely critical condition.

Police say charges will be submitted against the boy's 13-year-old friend who was handling the gun when it fired. An adult who was also home during the incident may face endangerment charges.
