Child killed during visit to Scottsdale fire station

Officials with the City of Scottsdale said a child died during a visit to a Scottsdale fire station.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by Kelly Corsette, the city's Communications and Public Affairs Director, the incident happened at an unspecified point over the weekend at Fire Station 601, located on 1901 N. Miller Road.

The child, according to the statement, was injured by the apparatus bay doors during a station tour. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

According to city officials, the child, who was less than two years of age, was a relative of a Scottsdale firefighter who was on duty at the station. An investigation is underway.
