Classic Camaro stolen in Nebraska totaled in fatal Minnesota crash

FARIBAULT COUNTY, Minn. (KMSP) - A fatal crash in Faribault County is tied to a stolen sports car from a restoration auto shop in Nebraska, according to the Lancaster County sheriff's office in Nebraska.

"It's not every day that you see a collector type vehicle like this that's stolen and then involved in this serious of a crash," said Lt. Casey Meagher of Minnesota State Patrol.

On Tuesday, Faribault County sheriff's officials and the Minnesota State Patrol responded to a crash at 5:15 a.m. at Highway 109 and 460th Ave, which is near Delavan, Minn.

The car was headed westbound on Highway 109 when it went off the road, hit a driveway and rolled several times. The driver, 26-year-old Tanner Goodrich was thrown from the car about 200 feet. The classic car did not have airbags. Officials pronounced Goodrich dead at the scene.

Goodrich once lived in Lincoln, Neb., but according to his sex offender registration, he moved to Mankato in 2012.

When Faribault County sheriff's office deputies were investigating the crash, they discovered the Camaro was on a national crime database. A 1968 Camaro RS was reported stolen from Restore a Muscle Car in Lincoln on Aug. 5. The owner had dropped it off only a week prior. The car was insured.

"Not at all how we wanted to see the car come back," said Dave Hall, Restore a Muscle Car President.
