Co-workers, friends honor shooting victims, police search for suspect

PHOENIX, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Police are searching for the person responsible for shooting two people, killing both.

Two men were shot near 3rd Avenue and Roosevelt Friday morning. Friends say they were walking home from work at Jobot Coffee.

Employees created a memorial outside the business to honor their friends.

Police say the two men were walking home, one with a bike, when something went terribly wrong.

Zak Walter, 24, was shot and killed. One of his best friends from college says he was the most understanding, kind person she knew.

The other man who was with Walter was David Bessent. On Wednesday, Phoenix Police Sergeant Tommy Thompson said Bessent , 41, has passed away.

Co-workers say he spoke of traveling the world some day.

It's unclear what the motive was, but friends believe perhaps the two were robbed before shots were fired.

Jobot employees say they're typically on alert when walking around the area because of scuffles that have happened before.

Police are looking for a white Durango that was seen leaving the scene. If you have any information, please contact Phoenix Police.
