Couple who ran a Phoenix daycare get prison for girl's death

PHOENIX (AP) -- A man and woman who ran an unlicensed home daycare facility in Phoenix have both been sentenced to prison for the 2012 death of a 2-year-old girl.

Maricopa County Superior Court officials say 30-year-old Ryan Reed got a 35-year prison term Friday while 31-year-old Allison Ann Clement got a 24-year sentence.

Both will be on lifetime supervised probation with Reed's having sex offender terms.

In August, Reed pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, child abuse and attempted sexual conduct with a minor. Clement pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and three counts of attempted child abuse.

A report from the county's medical examiner stated the girl died in December 2012 from multiple traumatic injuries, acute methamphetamine exposure and dehydration.

Authorities say she was weeks away from her third birthday when she died.
