Crash involving DPS trooper closes part of Loop 202

PHOENIX - A valley freeway was shut down after a Department of Public Safety trooper was hit by a car while responding to rollover crash near Loop 202 and Interstate 10.

The DPS cruiser did catch fire, but the trooper wasn't inside and was not hurt. Two people involved in the original crash were hospitalized. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

During the investigation, the westbound Loop 202 to westbound I-10 ramp was closed and traffic exited at 24th Street.
