Credit card skimmers found at Phoenix gas station

Two credit card skimmers have been discovered on gas pumps in Phoenix.

The skimmers were found at a Circle K near 32nd Street and Cactus attached to the scanner and keypad, which allows thieves to collect account and pin numbers at the same time.

The Arizona Department of Weights and Measures says it has found 10 of these skimmers during inspections this year.

"Most of us, we don't pay for gas anymore. We slip in our card and we expect it to be read and expect it to be secure.. and these people have figured out how to break into the pumps and how to steal our information and that's why we are trying to warn the public. They need to be careful," said ADWM's Mark Killian.

Officials say many gas pumps have a sticker crossing between the pump and the access door near the credit card slot. If the sticker is cut or if there is tape residue, notify a station attendant immediately.
