Downtown businesses boom after #RedforED march

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - You probably didn't think about it - but Thursday's march on the Capitol actually meant big bucks for businesses in the Downtown Phoenix area.

Once the march ended, many teachers marched right into some restaurants, where many spots were offering discounts.

"Right now, we're offering a 20% discount at three of our locations," said Kitty McCauley, Assistant General Manager of the PHX Public Market Cafe.

"I heard a lot of businesses were doing that," said Vicki Burkhart, who teaches math at South Mountain High School. "I didn't know this one in particular, but nice perk."

Business managers say it's a win-win to support education by offering discounts.
