Firefighter recovering after suffering burns in charter school fire

A Phoenix firefighter is recovering on Sunday after getting badly burned while fighting a first alarm fire at a charter school.

The firefighter was battling a blaze near 67th Avenue and Indian School road on Saturday. Crews had to force their way through a roll-up door, and that's when the firefighter was injured.

The firefighter suffered first and second-degree burns on his arms and legs. Phoenix Fire Captain Larry Subervi says they made an aggressive attack, and while crews were inside the firefighter sustained the burns.

The firefighter was treated and released from the hospital on Saturday, and is back at home on Sunday recuperating. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
