Judge OKs agreement blocking Arizona law on revenge porn

PHOENIX (AP) - A judge has signed off on an agreement permanently blocking a 2014 Arizona law that would have made it a crime for jilted lovers to post nude photos of their former partners online.

U.S. District Susan Bolton approved the agreement submitted last week by the American Civil Liberties Union and Attorney General Mark Brnovich.

The ACLU contended the law was too broad and could have made criminals out of booksellers, artists, news photographers and even historians.

Bolton temporarily blocked enforcement last year after the ACLU sued, pending changes made by the Legislature. A bill to change the law failed to make it out of both chambers last spring.

The legislation's sponsor has said he hopes to revive it.
