Man suffers partial amputation in bus stop crash

A person sitting at a bus stop was suffered a partial amputation in a crash on Sunday morning, and police say the driver may have been impaired.

Tempe Police say a man was at the bus stop when he was struck by a car at about 5:30am. Two people inside the car, a woman and a man, were both hurt when the vehicle crashed into the bus stop. All three victims were seriously injured, and a spokesperson for Tempe Fire says that the victim at the bus stop suffered a partial leg amputation in the crash.

Priest Drive had to be shut down between Baseline and the U.S. 60 and Baseline Road for the accident. All three people who were hurt were rushed to the hospital. The amputation is in surgery on Sunday. Tempe Police say impairment may have been a factor in this bus stop crash.
