March warm weather in Arizona cities goes into record books

Several Arizona desert cities' weather set records or nearly did in March, a month that saw high temperatures reach into the 90s.

Phoenix had record highs for the date on March 29 and March 31 as temperatures reached 97 and 95, respectively. Phoenix had its fifth warmest average high temperature for March at 84.7 degrees, while the average temperature of 72.2 degrees was the second warmest.

In Tucson, March was the second warmest on record with a monthly average temperature of 66.3 percent. The month ended with five straight days with highs in the lower 90s with three daily record highs being set or tied.

Meanwhile, Yuma recorded its second warmest average temperature for March at 67.2 degrees and set a record high of 98 degrees on March 28.
