Maricopa County Sheriff's Office: 2 killed in ATV collision

PHOENIX (AP) - Maricopa County authorities say two Glendale men were ejected and killed when their all-terrain vehicles collided in the Hassayampa River bottom in the desert west of Phoenix.

The Sheriff's Office identified the victims as 23-year-old Jesus Chavez and 47-year-old Dana Coerver.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred Sunday east of 399th Avenue and north of Indian School Road in an area commonly used for off-road vehicle drag racing.

The Sheriff's Office says witnesses reported seeing unidentified people loaded Chavez's ATV into a truck and departed after the collision.
