The search for a missing South Carolina girl has expanded as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) joins state and local law enforcement agencies in an intensive effort to locate the young girl, who disappeared Tuesday evening from her family's home in Aiken County.

The backstory:

According to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, 4-year-old Javeayah Harris was last seen around 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, near the intersection of Hillsboro Street and Ridgecrest Road in Aiken. 

Investigators say the child vanished from her family's residence, prompting a large-scale search involving officers from across the region.

Javeayah is described as a smart, talkative, and friendly 4-year-old who loves Minnie Mouse and enjoys chasing chickens. She stands approximately 3 feet, 6 inches tall, weighs 42 pounds, and investigators note she may be able to fit into small spaces.

She was last seen wearing Minnie Mouse pajamas, pink beads in her braided hair, and may have been wearing Crocs.

Authorities are asking residents throughout the area to thoroughly search their properties, including sheds, playhouses, wooded areas, crawl spaces, vehicles, and anywhere a small child could hide or become trapped.
