Officials identify missing man found dead on Camelback Mountain
PHOENIX (KSAZ) -- Officials with Phoenix Fire identified the missing hiker found dead on Camelback Mountain as Marc Daus, 54.
Friday night that crews with Phoenix Fire's Technical Rescue Teams recovered the body of a 54-year-old man on Camelback Mountain.
According to a statement released by Cpt. Rob McDade, the body was located on the south side of the mountain, just after 5:00 p.m., after crews were on the mountain all day, assisting Phoenix Police in searching for an adult male.
That man, according to Cpt. McDade, was last heard from at around noon on Thursday. Information from Phoenix Police indicates the man was visiting the city from out of town, and started his hike at around 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The hiker appeared to have fallen a significant distance.
Daus's family offered their thanks to everyone who assisted in the search and recovery.
