PD: Suspects impersonate city workers, attempt to rob home

PHOENIX (FOX 10) - Phoenix police arrested two people for impersonating City of Phoenix Water Department employees and attempting to rob a home.

Police say Bisono Ely, 28 walked up to a home on January 24 near Camelback Rd. and 38th St. wearing a construction style safety vest.

The 76-year-old and 82-year-old victims told officers he was an employee of the water department and need to check the water. The victims let Ely inside and watch as he pretended to check the water.

Police say Ely had a child with him and one of the victims noticed the child going around picking up jewelry and other valuables.

Then Savannah Wesley, 25, walked into the home with another child, according to police. The victims felt uncomfortable and asked them to leave. They were able to get a photo and vehicle description.

Police arrested Ely and Wesley, and they were booked into jail on multiple counts of criminal impersonation to gain access, burglary, false information to law enforcement, and child abuse.

The Phoenix Water Department released the following statement in response to the incident as a reminder to customers:

"The Phoenix Water Department reminds all community members that City of Phoenix Water Department employees will not ask to enter your residence unless prior communication has been established. All Phoenix Water Department employees will be in uniform displaying the City of Phoenix bird on the patches, as well as an identification badge with the employee's picture. If there are any concerns regarding City of Phoenix Water Department operations, community members may call the City of Phoenix Water Department at 602-262-6251."
