PHOENIX (FOX 10) -- Phoenix Police officials say a five-year-old child is dead, after he was hit by a car at an apartment complex.
The incident, according to Phoenix Fire officials, happened on the 2500 block of W. Maryland. According to a statement issued by Phoenix Fire Captain Rob McDade, crews responded to reports of a five-year-old boy getting struck by a vehicle, and when crews arrived, the child was found to have suffered what McDade described as "multi-systems trauma".
In a statement released Friday, Sgt. Tommy Thompson with Phoenix Police identified the boy as Branden Weaver Jr., and the driver as a 71-year-old man. Impairment is not believed to be a factor.
