Phoenix police: Father arrested after running over toddler son with truck
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A Phoenix father is facing a charge of negligent homicide after police say he ran over his 21-month-old son with a truck.
According to Sgt. Alan Pfohl with the Phoenix Police Department, 49-year-old Richard Hamilton was arrested after he ran over 21-month-old Samuel Hamilton outside a home near Interstate 17 and Northern Avenue on April 19.
Police say Richard Hamilton was moving a truck on his property and didn't see that the toddler was near the vehicle.
Richard Hamilton stopped the truck when he felt a bump under the tires, according to police.
The toddler was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.
Richard Hamilton has been booked into jail on one charge of negligent homicide.
