Phoenix police: Driver killed in 2-car crash near 19th and Northern Avenues

One man died when a car crashed into a minivan that was carrying several children in Phoenix, police said.

According to Phoenix police, the crash happened near 19th and Northern Avenues just after 4 p.m. on Oct. 31 when a Lexus LS400 crashed into a Honda minivan.

The driver of the van, a 39-year-old woman, tried to turn left onto Northern Avenue when the van was struck by the Lexus. Following the initial collision, the Lexus hit a brick wall and palm tree, crushing the passenger side of the vehicle.

The driver of the Lexus, 19-year-old Joseph Robles-Romero, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the minivan was not injured. Three children inside the minivan, ages 11, 8, and 4, were also not hurt.
