Phoenix police: Person's dead body found in canal

PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police says a person's dead body has been found in a canal.

Sgt. Vince Lewis says police are working with the Salt River Project to shut down flow in the canal so the police dive team can recover the body.

Lewis says homicide detectives will conduct the investigation.

The location is near 24th Street and Virginia Avenue.
