Plane crashes northwest of Wickenburg; one taken to the hospital

Officials with the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday afternoon that a single-engine plane has crashed 24 miles northwest of Wickenburg.

According to a statement released by Dwight D'Evelyn, the Cirrus SR22 crashed under unknown circumstances at around 11:40 a.m., in a very remote area west of Highway 71 and north of the community of Aguila. The plane was carrying two people when it crashed. One was flown to a Phoenix area hospital, while the other person did not require medical attention.

The FAA is investigating the crash.
