Police arrest man, charge him with murder following robbery

Police arrested a man and charged him with murder after he was allegedly involved in a robbery that left another man dead on Thursday.

Phoenix police say 26-year-old Fernando Perea has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Just after 9 a.m. on Thursday, police responded near Cheery Lynn and 65th Avenue after reports of an injured person.

After arriving at the scene, police found 20-year-old Thomas Kizzee suffering from a stab wound. Kizzee was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police believe that when Perea and Kizzee attempted to rob another person, the victim stabbed Kizzee with an unknown object. The victim then chased Perea, who had his backpack, and an injured Kizee on foot through a nearby alleyway.

Kizzee then collapsed to the ground and both Perea and the robbery victim left the area.

Police later found Perea and took him into custody. He was booked into jail on a charge of first-degree murder. The robbery victim has not been identified.
